Possible DA's we are looking into

# United States of Africa - There are major talks this summer about the status of the AU with the possibility of major transitions to a US of Africa. Arguably, taking some credibility gaining initiative may sell African governments on a more centralized US of Africa. If the US acted, however, it seems as if the AU is not necessary and they will not bind together. It is also possible that the US providing a type of Public Health assistance may cause internal rifts destroying the momentum towards unity. A strong AU may be key to solve a variety of problems.
# Pan Africanism - US action hurts regionalism/pan-africanism, which is important. I think this is a more theoretical version of #1, but searching pan-africanism may result in more country specific ideas
# New Chair credibility/ Multi-year term - A new chair will be/has been elected (elections due in July, don't know when). They will solicit new intiatives. US action may steal some of their thunder or make act in opposition to their intiiatives, killing their credibility. Chairs are also only elected for one year at a time, but part of the discussion for this summer is to potentiallychange it to multi-year terms. Perhaps the plan will affect this process.
